International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia

May 17th is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia, and also marks the 33rd anniversary of the removal of homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases by the World Health Organisation. While so much progress has been made on human rights issues involving LGBTIQ+ people, many cases of discrimination and inequality still exist around the world. IDAHOBIT can be used to celebrate the gender and sexual diversity and identity of humans, learn about LGBTIQ+ history, and learn how to be a good ally. Start a conversation with your peers, share your stories, and take pride in your individual identities. Visit the IDAHOBIT website at idahobit.org.au for more information on how to get involved and the impact you could make.

If you, or anyone you know are facing discrimination because of your gender and/or sexual identity, help and resources are available from the following organisations:
+ Beyond Blue
+ headspace
+ ReachOut
+ QLife
+ LGBTIQ+ Health Australia
+ Minus18

Opulence College is proud to be a diverse and inclusive organisation for all, and can also offer support to students and staff facing inequality.

In the spirit of reconciliation, Opulence College acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
