The Opportunity 
Join the expanding Opulence College community as a Regional Manager based in Colombia. You will be working virtually with a dynamic team of proactive individuals and lifelong learners passionate about providing the best education, training, and support services to international students, as well as enhancing our own personal and professional development. 
The Role 
The Regional Manager role is a permanent, full-time opportunity, with a 3-month probationary period, evaluated by a set-sales target. Your performance will be reviewed quarterly. Pay consists of a base rate plus commission and is negotiable.  
 
This is a role with a heavy focus on sales, marketing and business development. As an overseas Regional Manager of Opulence College, you will work closely with the Canberra-based Business Development Team to promote the College to various education and migration agents in the Latin American Region and maintain good relationships with them. You will be the first point of contact between the College and agents. In addition, you will be responsible for administrative tasks relating to the enrolment and support of new students. 
 
Your role will include but is not limited to: 
  • Researching for and recruiting new education and migration agencies in Latin America to partner with Opulence College. 
  • Maintaining good relationships and networking with education and migration agents overseas and in Australia. 
  • Planning marketing and student recruitment strategies and campaigns. 
  • Reporting sales and marketing activities to the management team. 
  • Developing marketing materials in multiple languages to promote Opulence College. 
  • Helping the administrative team to enrol new students. 
 Essential skills and competency 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills in-person, over the phone and via email, in both native tongue and English. 
  • Ability to work both individually and as a team. 
  • Strong understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivity. 
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven thinking. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Strong organisation and planning skills. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Proactive and passionate about the student experience. 
 Essential experience 
  • Experience working in the education industry, particularly at an RTO/university, VET/CRICOS or higher education environment with international student recruitment in Australia. 
  • Experience working with education and migration agents. 
  • Personal and professional networks in the education and migration industry.  
  • Graphic design and digital marketing skills.

Some of the best weaknesses to mention in an interview

Have you ever struggled to answer the question asking your greatest weakness during the interview? Framing your weaknesses positively helps you to stand out from other job applicants. The key to preparing for this question is to identify weaknesses that still communicate strengths. Here are a few examples you should mention in an interview:

1. I am too detail-orientated Focus on the details is good, but spending too much time might consider a weakness. Make sure you bring up how you’re improving in this area in the interview, and it is impressive to have a candidate who assures quality and strives for balance.

2. It is hard for me to let go of a project Some people tend to over-criticize their work or attempt last-minute modifications. If this is your case, share how you’re striving to improve by giving yourself a deadline for all revisions but not pushing everything to the last minute.

3. I sometimes lack confidence Lack of confidence is a very common weakness among entry-level contributors. For example, you might feel unqualified to speak up at an important meeting even though your proposed idea might help the team to achieve the goal. How to write a salary negotiation email?

A salary negotiation email is used when you would like to negotiate the initially offered salary of a particular role. People may easily get stressed when talking about salary but knowing how to negotiate is always a plus. Here are some tips when composing a salary negotiation email:

1. Keep it personal Always include the full name of the person you’re addressing the email to. This can be the hiring manager for a new job or your current manager if you’re seeking a negotiation in your current role.

2. Clarify the subject tittle Make your subject line relevant such as “Response to your offer of sales manager position,” but remember not to include salary. You can start to get to that in the body of the email.

3. Be specific about the amount Make sure you have a specific number or range of the expected salary before starting negotiations. Be upfront so that both parties know if it is possible to progress.

4. Highlight your experience and qualification It is an excellent opportunity to show your worth and value. Think about five or six things you may outperform others and put them into detail with specific examples.

5. End with positive language It is always a good idea to end the email by reiterating your genuine interest in the role. In this way, the employer knows it’s worthwhile to try to make your request work. Nothing is impossible!

How to stay productive while working from home

Working from home has been a trend for many companies due to the continued spread of COVID-19. While it can seem like a simple transition, working from home can be challenging and distracting. Here are some valuable tips for boosting productivity:

1. Dress up for work It is always a good idea to set boundaries between working and living at home by maintaining your regular morning routine. Getting your brain in productivity mode can be difficult if you stay dressed for sleep. Therefore, dressing for the tasks can bring motivation and be handy in case of unexpected video meetings.

2. Set up a schedule and make it work Make sure you set your working hours separate from your personal time and let your manager and the team know when your working hours are. Remember to build in regular breaks to get some fresh air and rest your brain.

3. Create a workplace Create a separate working space at home if possible since it can boost your productivity when working in a designated area. In addition, communicate with everyone in the house and let them know you are off-limits during your scheduled work hours.

4. Pay attention to burn-out Try to focus more on what you achieve instead of how much you work to reduce the feeling of being overworked. Creating work start and end rituals is helpful. For instance, shut down your computer at the end of the day or avoid opening your email or online chat after you decide to sign off.

Tips for developing new skills

Are you considering expanding your skills and knowledge to a different career? Perhaps you are ready to try something different or due to some unforeseen circumstances. No matter what the reason is, here are some tips for you to get started.

1. Short courses Short courses are an excellent way to help you develop new skills in an informal setting and get back on track if you haven’t studied in a while. Short course providers include Adult and Community Education at TAFE, universities, community centres, etc.

2. Vocational and Education Training (VET) VET provides a range of workplace-specific skills and knowledge to meet the needs of employers and the industry. By completing VET courses, you can receive nationally accredited qualifications ranging from Certificate I to Diploma level.

3. Adult apprenticeships and traineeships Australian Apprenticeships are highly user-friendly as it is available to all of working age, and no pre-qualification is required. Apprenticeships often combine time at work with training, and more than 500 occupations are available around Australia.

4. Higher Education A university qualification is always a good option for guiding you to learn new knowledge, including bridging courses. However, this pathway requires more prerequisites in comparison to the previous options. Therefore, conducting thorough research about the right entry-level skills is worthwhile before applying.

For example, think about when your partner or children might be available to spend time with you and when they might be busy with their work.
